Wedding Planning: Is planning a wedding like a second job?

It is according to Rachel Emma Silverman who has written a piece for the Wall Street Journal today.  Some excerpts are below – it looks like she sould have benefitted from our Complete Wedding Design & Co-ordination service.

Soon after I got married, people would ask me if life was different as a married woman. “Well, I’m not planning a wedding,” I’d say.

Dealing with the logistics of a wedding felt like having a second full-time job. Although my nuptials didn’t approach Chelsea Clinton-level in terms of cost or extravagance, my wedding was still a pretty major affair.

It seemed that every major wedding vendor had hours more suited for the “Mad Men” days when women quit their jobs as soon as they were engaged. Why did every tasting or fitting have to only be available Monday through Friday from 9 to 5? Getting a limited weekend appointment meant fighting for space with about every working couple in New York. As a result, I’m ashamed to say that my work performance suffered in the weeks leading up to the Big Day. I was irritable, stressed and distracted and for the first (and thankfully only, so far) time in my career, I had a fight with my boss over my poor attitude.

I’m not alone, though. ForbesWoman, TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com, surveyed more than a thousand working women on the topic of wedding planning. Some 89% admitted to planning their weddings during work, and about a third felt their workplace suffered as a result.
